We will have more clarity on the exact colour and trim options once the vehicle gets listed officially on Suzuki's website. The designers of the 2019 Suzuki Jimny have taken a leaf out of the Mercedes-Benz G-Class booklet and adopted a very neo-retro approach. The boxy proportions give the Jimny a very utilitarian look while elements like projector headlamps, ORVM mounted turn indicators, split-spoke alloy wheels add a modern touch to the exterior. Suzuki will offer two iterations - Jimny & Jimny Sierra. The latter adds protective body cladding to the wheel arches and side edges along with beefier tires and a different set of alloy wheels. The interior follows the same design principle as the exterior. Some of the features present in the cabin include a touchscreen display for the infotainment system, automatic climate control, multifunction steering wheel among others. The 3-door hardtop Suzuki Jimny will offer seating for four.
2018 Maruti Suzuki Jimny for Indian Markets spied testing in foreign Roads multiple times. Engine configuration is same as in current cars like 1.2L Petrol & 1.3 litre Diesel but a new 1.0 ltre petrol engine like rs versions in other cars is also added to it. This is debut in india in Auto Expo 2018.
The key differentiating factors between the Jimny and Jimny Sierra are the additional body cladding, wider tyres and slightly different alloy wheels on the latter. If the models stay true to the previous version, then the Jimny will get a smaller 660cc petrol motor (to avail Japanese tax benefits), while the Jimny Sierra is likely to be powered by a 1.0-litre turbo-petrol or a 1.2-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine. The images also reveal that an automatic transmission will be on offer. In terms of design, both get projector headlamps, black bumpers, turn indicators integrated into the outside mirrors, and a rear-mounted spare. An attachment slot below the left outside mirror appears to be for a blind spot detection system. Images of the interiors of the new Jimny were leaked on the internet late last year, and it revealed that the cabin shares a lot with the new Swift, including the 7.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system and climate control system. The steering is also similar and gets the same audio controls but isn’t the flat-bottomed type. Both models also feature rear seats and the front passenger seat that fold flat and a brake assist driving aid. Suzuki is expected to officially unveil the Jimny for the Japanese market in the first half of July, following which, it will introduce the SUV to other international markets.
The Suzuki Jimny is the brand’s well-known subcompact SUV which very much reminds us of the old Jeep model. The carmaker is soon planning to present the new 2018 Suzuki Jimny which will arrive with plenty of interesting changes. However, according to the latest rumors, the Suzuki manufacturer is also working on the newest version of this model which will make its debut as the 2019 Suzuki Jimny.
If you need a tiny, cheap off-roader, the Suzuki Jimny is an option you could pursue. Sure, it's barely changed since its introduction over two decades ago, and consequently lacks the refinement and safety we've become used to in modern cars, but this characterful little motor is so hard not to love anyway. Look out for a replacement, which is likely to be revealed this year. We rated it 2/10 in our in-depth review, but don't let that put you off.
